| Employment data are required nowadays, especially for the evaluation and development planning in the areas of employment such as improving the skills of the labor force, expanding job opportunities and try and labor productivity. Labor Force are those that are up to 10 years and for a week in succession have a job, both while working and not working because of a reason such as waiting to harvest, employees who leave and are employed professionals (traditional, puppeteer) who is waiting next job. Besides, those who do not have a job but are looking for work in a group also including the work force. Labor Force is not them that are up to 10 years ago, only a week in school, manage the household and other activities do not do other activities and does not perform an activity that can be included in that work, while not working or looking for work. |

| Number of labor force more than half or 55.34% of working age in Garut regency into the work force, while the school was 43.59%, the management of household and other activities of 56.37%. Working age is generally the focus of attention is a category that includes work force because this group has a high sensitivity of the labor market, because of the changes that occurred in this group will be able to influence the demand side and supply side of labor. Meanwhile, other activities in addition to the work force economically inactive, not classified as work force. The increasing population residing in the work force reflect the level of labor force participation overall in Garut regency reached 987,607 people or 55.24% with a composition that distinguish sex men higher than women on the each of 673,541 people and 314,066 people. This showed that the men generally find the main breadwinners in the family. There are several definitions of the concept of half unemployment (under unemployment), among others, workers with less working hours, low income, occupation and education do not match (mismatch). In Indonesia, the first definition is often used with the limitation (cut off point) is the normal hours of work 35 hours per week. As illustrated in the unemployment figures half Garut regency in 2002 is 34.39% of the labor force that works. |
