Garut Regency has the potential of inland/freshwater fishery reach 26,000 ha, covering fisheries and aquaculture fisheries in the normal waters of the pond, swift water pond, mina rice, general pond. Potential new fisheries area approximately 1000 Ha. Potential fishery in Garut regency described in the following table:

Excellent fisheries commodity in Garut Regency are Gold Fish (Carassius Auratus), Nilem, Nila dan Shrimp, that has center as follow::
  • Shrimp in Situgede Situjaya Villages Karangpawitan District
  • Nilem in Kp. Cipari Sukarasa Villages Pangatikan District
  • Gold Fish and Nilem in Cigedogan Sukasenang Village Bayongbong District, Village Pananjung Tarogong Kaler District
  • Freshwater Beautiful Fish : BBI Bayongbong, Tarogong Fish Market

Completely, population of fisheries in Garut Regency are:
  • Gold Fish (Mas) (58,79%)
  • Nilem (11,93%)
  • Nila (11,81%)
  • Mujair ( 4,33%)
  • Lele (1,41%)
  • Udang/Shrimp (2,17%)
  • Gurame, etc (5,61 %)
