Area of forest in Garut regency in the year 2009 still based on Ministry of Forestry Decree or KEPMENHUT Number 195/KPTS/II/2003 that said 107,865 ha (35% of Garut Regency wide). It consist Fof Forest Protected: 75,572 Ha (70%), Forest Conservation: 26,727 Ha (24.77%), Limited Production Forest (HPT): 5.400Ha (5.02%), and Forest Production 1.66 Ha (0, 15%). While the potential of forest people (outside the forest area) is in 22.647 Ha. Critical of land outside the forest/ and owned by the public in 2004 covering 65,452 Ha,  in 2007 covering 34,723 Ha. Priority handling of critical land that is made from 2004 until the end of the year 2008 is 30,729 Ha.
The Critical Land in area of forest reach 8670.04 Ha, that consist of Forest Conservation: 4133 Ha, Protected Forest: 765.74 Ha, and Forest Production 4172.30 Ha.
