History and archaeological objects in Garut regency was not all recorded. This is because there is no expert that is capable of examining and revealing in their entirety, in addition to the limited historical evidence supporting the findings are available. In the preservation of historical and ancient, Garut has potential enough. On this aspect needs to be developed for better utilization objects and scientific studies to support the object of tourism. Therefore, guidance and development of ancient history and heritage needs to be improved.

In addition to historical objects Cangkuang Temple, tomb-site culture ancient tombs, and objects in the environment of heritage sites such as site Kabuyutan Ciburuy, there are still many historical things like Ancient Scripts and and Archeological Things.

One of the oldest codex in Garut Regency is a script that is on the site Kabuyutan Ciburuy.  Written in the 15th century, using a sharp object on the leaves and Lontar nipah use of language and letters Sunda Ancient. This script is called "mandate from Galunggung", containing advice on ethical and moral character Sunda old, who presented Rakeyan Darmasiksa, Galunggung ruler, to his son Ragasuci (Park Sang Lumahing). In addition to this script, the script also many others who organized since about a century to use the 18-letter pegon (Arabic), Cirebon-Javanese, Sundanese and Javanese-.
